Only five months after it’s launch in the US, the makers of the Paper Bottle , Green Bottle Company, based in Merseyside has gone into administration.
The reasons given for the failure include the majority of the shareholder base decided to discontinue investing so the directors of the company had no option. In last November the world’s first paper wine bottle went on sale in containing a 2012 red blend from Paso Robles in Safeway supermarkets under the “Paper Boy” label. Made from compressed recycled paper and printed with “natural” ink the bottle weighs just 65 grms and seventh of the weight of the average wine bottle. Lined with a plastic bag similar to wine boxes giving a carbon footprint less than a third of the average 750 ml glass bottle.
